Comic-Con 2015 Recap
Another Comic-Con has come and gone *sniffle* and holy cats was it fantastic. I vote that we all pool our money together, buy the San Diego Convention Center and live there year round. It’ll be like The Citadel from “Mad Max: Fury Road” but with much less bad stuff.
First off, I want to say a huge thanks to all of the loyal Browncoats who came to our panel. There was a panel happening at the same time in Hall H for some little indie upstart named “Star Wars” or something, and you guys chose to spend that time with us. That is phenomenal! You guys are the best. I also want to thank Andy Gore and all of the QMx team along with John O’Neill from Spark Plug Games for inviting me to be on the panel again. It’s always a blast and I can’t wait for the next one.
We also had our voice director Andrea Romano and voice actors Wil Wheaton and Courtenay Taylor along for the ride. The stories they shared along with insight into their creative process was just awesome. It takes a special knack to be a great voice actor. And, under Andrea’s direction, Wil and Courtenay have nailed it and really become part of the ‘Verse.
I was lucky enough to get to play some of my music from “Firefly Online” live on the banjo near the end of the panel. I have to say, your response from the audience was incredible. You made this nerd with a banjo feel like Eddie Van Halen up there. I can’t thank you enough for that. I didn’t notice while I was plucking away, but Wil had his phone aimed at me and shot some video. He posted it to Twitter and Instagram and absolutely flattered the hell out of me. Thanks Wil!
It was also great getting to talk to a few of you afterwards. I always love hearing from you guys.
Aside from the panel, my wife and I really Comic-Con’d the living crap out of Comic-Con this year. We saw just about everything on the exhibition floor and found time to catch the “Chronicles of Shannara” panel. Especially awesome for me was getting to put on THE ACTUAL CHAINSAW Bruce Campbell used in the upcoming TV series “Ash vs. Evil Dead”! I am a huge “Evil Dead”/“Army of Darkness” fan, so mark that life-long dream off the list.
I’ve been told that we have a professionally shot video of the entire panel and will be getting it soon. I will post it here once it’s ready.
Stay tuned. And you stay classy San Diego!
